Personal project

2024

This project is a conceptual art piece that critiques the collective prioritization of superficiality over substance in contemporary media consumption. Presented as a fake newspaper, it juxtaposes critical global issues—wars, the struggle in Palestine, police brutality, systemic inequality—with the endless churn of trivial headlines: celebrity gossip, new tech releases, viral trends, and fashion obsessions.

The use of semi-translucent spreads symbolizes the veils of distraction we willingly place over the world's harsh realities. These overlays obscure the essential stories that demand our attention and action, mirroring the way our social feeds and news cycles bury significance beneath sensationalism.

In an era of endless distraction, this piece challenges us to refocus on the truths that matter most, even when they are uncomfortable or inconvenient.
